Organizers reviewing ticket sales after a show

Compare ticketing platforms

Most ticketing platforms will sell your tickets. The question worth a Canadian organizer’s afternoon is what happens around and after the sale. What did you you learn from it, and who picks up the phone on the day of the show. This is where we set that out, and where we compare ourselves with the platforms organizers ask us about most.

What the choice actually comes down to

Feature lists converge. Almost every platform on your shortlist will take payment, issue a ticket, scan it at the door and pay you afterwards. If you are choosing on that, you are choosing on a coin toss. Four things actually separate them, and all four are worth checking on any platform you look at, ours included.

What a ticket costs to sell. Compare the service fee and the payment processing separately, and check whether the fixed part is charged per ticket, per item or per order — on a multi-ticket basket that single detail moves the total more than the percentage does. Ours is 3.5% + $1.29 per ticket, plus 2.9% + $0.30 per order. The organizer decides whether to absorb the fee or pass it to the attendee.

What you learn from the sale. A sales report tells you how many tickets went and when. A marketing report tells you which poster run, which boost and which promoter produced them. Ask whether the platform records a source on the order itself, and whether you can read it without exporting anything.

Whether the buyer comes back. Retention is handled very differently across the market — discount codes, memberships, third-party rewards, or nothing at all. What matters is whether it sits inside the ticket purchase, and who funds it.

Who you can talk to. Some platforms are a support queue; some are a named person; some scope your business before they will take it on. None of those is wrong — but it decides how your first on-sale goes, so find out which one you are buying.

One plan for everyone, with custom pricing for specific organizers.

Tixert against a typical ticketing platform

This table describes the market in general rather than any one platform, because the answer genuinely varies by product and by plan. For figures attached to a named platform and a dated source, use the comparison pages below.

Side-by-side comparisons

Each page carries the other platform’s figures as they publish them, with the source linked and the date we last read it. Where they beat us on price, those pages say so.
